Gondola – Discover the canals of Venice
The gondola is the most typical of Venetian boats. Each gondola is built in squeri, small family-owned boatyards where generations of shipwrights hand down complex and exclusive knowledge. The gondolier rows “alla veneta,” with a single oar facing the bow, which he maneuvers resting on the “forcola,” a rowlock that is a true small masterpiece of rowing engineering, perfected through centuries of experimentation.
Gondoliers, and their gondolas, are now distributed in various “stazi,” stations from which it is possible to set off on iconic sightseeing tours. Prices are set by the gondoliers' cooperative in agreement with the municipality and range from 90 to 120 euros-depending on the duration of the tour-with some small variations during evening hours. The closest stazi to Ca' Dadda are those of Santa Sofia and San Marcuola.
For customized services one can arrange with the gondolier for rates proportional to the time required.

Gondoliers also take turns performing the “traghetti da parada” service: a shuttle along the Grand Canal used by Venetians to better “cut” the city off from the tourist streams, at a modest price.
